Unhappy slight oil leak on older Bravo 1 lower drive

I have a small amount of drive fluid leaking from the lower port drive. I noticed the leak while doing some spring prevent maintenance. I replaced the lower drain plug with a new one and new gasket/washer while changing fluid. I also scraped the the drain plug area making sure to remove all old gasket material that were stuck together from previous fluid changes. The leak is still there. I stuffed some paper towels in the cavity were the prop shaft is housed and that seemed to stop it. ( I was trying to pinpoint the source I,E. eliminating the drain plug.) . some where in the housing I am losing Drive oil. When I changed the oil there was not any milkiness to the fluid. Any advice/ help would greatly be appreciated.

Most likely place is between the upper and lower. I psi test them and if they leak, I dunk them in a tank to find where I need to go. Of course this is after a rebuild and there is no oil in them. You might try flushing the cavity behind the bearing carrier with mineral spirits.. and dry it out.. If you still see it coming down from the top.. then I would split the cases and look for bad orings or a nick where the orings sit...

Hope that helps...
