1990 Sea Ray 220 OV Mercruiser V8 5.7
Hello:
I recently purchased this boat and it looks immaculate. I was wondering if 590 hours on an engine this age is a lot, average, or what. Everything is clean on the boat and everything works, even the lights and guages, except I cannot keep it running. I can start it with starter fluid, or gas into the carb, and it will run for a few seconds and die, so I know it is getting fire. It has been setting and has not been started since April. The previous owner simply didn't use it much (he was the second owner). I poured a gallon of gas into the tank thinking the gas guage could be faulty, but no help. I tried starting it with the gas cap off, still no help. I can't tell if there is gas in that little clear tube going to the carb. I am thinking fuel pump?? Where can you buy parts like these? Or, if I get it done, how much should I expect to pay?
Any ideas? Thanks-Bill
