New Bravo III outdrives sucking in gear lube
Hi, I've got a brand new boat now with 50 hours on Cummins QSD 4.2 sterndrive diesels with Bravo III outdrives. I have had a problem with the outdrives sucking up gear lube like there's no tomorrow. Even after this much time, every time I run 100 miles or so, I've got to put in 4 ounces of gear lube in each reservoir. With fewer hours on the engines, it was sucking it even faster. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Call Merc Hi- Performance they can steer you in the right direction, it is not really their problem, but they should be able to get you to the right department.# 920-924-2088

The level should have stabilized after a few runs. It will go up and down as it heats and cools. If you continually have to add to it it is going somewhere either in the water or into the bellows. Have a dealer check it out to get it fixed under warranty.

Are you running drive showers? If not, I would add them.

Probably propshaft seals. There have been new Bravo III's coming out with the seals drove in crooked.
