Default Polish IMCO satin lowers?

Does anyone have any experience polishing IMCO lowers with satin finish?

A Fountain employee told me scotchbrite pads / discs & wd-40 will get them smooth. I'm guessing it would take multiple steps of wet sanding to get the polished finish.

Mine are turning a different color and have a few spots. But I have no intention of polishing - just not the best looking.

Mine gets this nasty spot at the front on top like a ring, very hard to clean, I've tried CLR, wd-40 with a scoth-brite pad and it is still hard to get that part clean. Any thoughts as well? Steve

I realize this is a fixed #6 rudder boat I have seen other boats w/ #6 polished lowers. Maybe a bling bling thing w/ any real performance advantage. To my knowledge the school of thought is a non slick finish provides a sort of a non sticky boundry layer whereas a slick finish is sticky & creates drag. Kind of the same reason you don't wax your hull when looking for speed.

Just my $.02

Usually CLR or Limeaway works with a scotchbrite bad. If that doesnt work and you need something stronger, you can use Muratic acid (pool acid) and that should work. Just make sure you wear gloves with all that stuff because it will jack up your hands. Dilute the muratic acid a lot too.
