The X Drive is a unique drive and will have a specific market, The drive has now been tested with 1400hp for over 1000 hours with no failure, Bill said the drive does not even require a cooler as the oil never gets hot enough, It takes only 10 hp off the engines hp, vs. a 6 which takes 70-80hp, the drive is 150lbs lighter each, It is also being designed on a 6 gimbal as well, We are getting a pair for my 40 Skater, we will be pushing them to the extreme with over 1100hp/side, will let you guys know how it performs, price has not been finalized yet

Building the drive to work on a 6 gimbal sounds like a better way to go,on most boats the bravo hp gimbal can handle 600-700hp pretty safely but with 1000-1400hp seems very risky,I have seen a lot of bravo gimbals break and some have caused bad accidents,or even better yet have them offer their own gimbal rated for the same hp as there drive

Yes but no comparison to #6, Its not just the size and pins its the design size and angle of the steering and trim rams.

I understand, but my hope is to come up with something that upgrades a bravo, I can't hang # 6s off the back of my rig.

Imco makes their heavy duty gimbal,it's not cheap though and max machine works is offering the stainless gimbal rings that chad hill was selling except they actually re-machine it to fit without cobbling for about 1100$,Smitty

I hope this drive actually meets the claims they have put out,it might sound like I'm against it from my post but I'm not,I'm just skeptical. From my math it looks like they drove the 1500 hp test boat about 20,000 to 25,000 miles and burned about 80,000 $ worth of gas. If this is true they have a real commitment to this drive,Smitty
At 35,000$ a drive it will be out of the reach of the majority of us but maybe the price will come down with volume!
