Default First time changing my drive oil

OK, I am a bad owner. Had the boat 2 years and never changed the lower lube. I have SSM 2's and have the Merc Lube (2.5 gallons $ 131 ouch) and the hand pump. The Resevoir fluid is nasty but service place told me that doesn't mean anything since it is overflow only. Manual says to drain ot bottom and then fill through bottom with pump till it comes out vent hole. Plug it up then. I have the new washers, any other tips.?

Wannabe

PS.Engine oil was changed last year and will be changed this year too.

once you are done filling the drive, fill the resovoir. Then run the boat a little and recheck level. Should be good to go.
