My lowers was the worst casting I have ever seen in anything, there wavy, grinding dips, some I cant get out there so deep, one had nose off ,there thick, skegs thick.
I have 2 lowers thats on the boat they were the same casting, the spare looks like they spent alittle more time on it.
I got the boat with the B max with a stock merc foot, the boat was a little off on speed, around 1-2mph,Thin i put the blower motors in it and had a base line, change to the crescent lowers,I sanded/cleaned them up some. I really didn't see much speed dif.I did notice it was not hook up as good at the stock bravo foot,no big deal,I'm babying them getting on plan anyway.I went up 6 prop sizes, now Ive cut the sh!t out of them, hours and hours of it,I just hate I cant get the porosity out of it,I keep grinding and more turn up,Ive thinned them a bunch,Dean said I couldn't grind too much,I think I can see oil thru those holes
Ive been busy polishing with out a boat all summer
looks at the thickness diff, with the torpedo being bigger and longer, more resistance
the Drive sits back 5/8's. so that puts the prop alittle deeper in the water.
hope this helps

I got an idea on the porosity you're seeing, West System 420 or 423... Never tried it but the 423 is an aluminum powder and the 423 is graphite...

The polishing actually slows ya down bro!! I remember at the marina they detailed a #6 boat and polished the lowers... the owner freaked out!!!
