Default Bravo one driveshaft

I have 2001 bravo ones that have driveshafts with taped holes instead of threaded studs. Is this normal or something someone customized. The bolts used are stainless with no markings.

The older drive shafts were threaded, as in my '99 B1's ,OM serial #'s.

The newer shafts went to a tapped hole. Also are larger in dia. Sure those bolts are SS? I'd be surprised if they were. The shaft I just installed came with a reg. grade 5 bolt, non S/S. Don't know when the change over occured to the tapped end and larger dia shafts, but appearantly around 2000.??

I drilled and tapped my old shaft for a spare, as the threaded end got stripped.
