Curious question

I have looked around on the web but figured I would bring the topic here.

Why do I not see any v-drive or straight shaft drives on offshore performance boats. They seem to be mainstream on performance ski boats and cruisers. Do they limit trim too much or just poor performance? Seems like they would be more reliable than outdrives. Just curious...
