Replace Gimbal Ring or Entire Transom Ass'y?

My Stbd. Gimbal Ring failed at the pivot points last summer & would have sunk if it weren't for the trim and steering arms. In the process it broke off big chunk of the Gimbal Housing collar so I replaced the entire Transom Assembly. The Port Ass'y looks to have been replaced at some point- it has a newer style gimbal ring w/ the u-bolt at the top, but its got some age on it too, and there's a hairline crack running above and below the u-bolt. I want to replace it over the winter but am wondering if I shouldn't just replace the gimbal ring and not the entire assembly. Seems to me the ring is what takes the wear and stress at the pivot points- the bell housing and gimbal housing don't really have anything to wear out. is there any reason to replace them if they don't look damaged from impact or severely pitted from salt? (NOTE: TRS)

I would recomend a new assembly. It is usually cheaper in the long run also you then have all NEW parts.. If you would like a price on one feel free to call me... Jamie / Lakeside 570-639-2628

If the pivot points are not wore, I would change the bushings in the transom assy, and upgrade the ring and bellhousing.
and change the gimble bearing and seal also.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this is TRS. If anyone has a gimbal ring or complete assembly they want to offer, I'm all ears-
