They are the same upper, but gear ratios could be different..

The 2:1 uses the 32/27 gear set, same as used for the 1.5 upper.. Just checked the chart. It would be the same upper then.. Is one newer than the other?? What does the serial number begin with?? OL or OM? OM and newer has the X gears in them..
Hope that helps.

I can't remember exactly when the X gears came out, shortly after the XR came out. Anyway.. check the serial number.. if it is OL, then it has the thin floored gears.. If OM, then it has the newer better gears.

OL and later have thin floored gears.. OM and newer have thick floored gears. OD would be an older version.. They made changes in the castings of the upper cases, over the years.. The newer the better when it comes to upper cases.

If I had to choose, I would tear them down and inspect.. But without that, I would go the newest one.. the OL. I have installed a lot of steel towers in the OL cases.. and upgrade gear kits, makes a nice drive..
