#3 Drives and Trans,
Hi guys, I have a pair of #3 drives and trans, Fresh water.
Does anyone know anything about these drives? Are they obsolete or do people still want them?
Any info would be helpful, just trying to figure out what I should sell them for

#3 drives
Just for a reference, I have for sale, in the classifieds, 3 fresh, i.e. no hours since a complete rebuild by Marine Drives, #3 drives, 1.48:1 ratio, with crescent housing. They have NEW upper gear sets, bearings and seals, full of fluid and ready to bolt on and run. I'm asking $4500 ea. but will take $4000ea.

Technically anything older than a #6 is obsolete...
I sold my set of III"s that came on my '80 Cigarette for $4500 for the pair, drives only. They were a complete unknown quanity, and I had no maintenance history or run time on them. If I was looking to do a solid 650 hp setup, I'd definitely consider a set of fresh III's cheap over the other options that are out there.
