Default Bravo 1, what years should I avoid

I am new to possibly owning a 1989 formula with bravo1 drives, 330hp 7.4ltr. i know little about inboards, but will pick up the knowledge fast as I am a mechanic. What should i watch out for, i see there was a difference between the 89 model and the 1991 models, as they have a exillary oil bottles mounted on the engine which holds drive oil, is that a better setup then the 89 version, which doesnt have the bottle? How do they work?
