Default Bravo XR Upgrade

My winter project is to upgrade my Bravo XR drive on my 2004 29' Fever 525. Boat runs 78 mph on the limiter with a stock B1 26" and no problems with getting on plane or blowout. I want to upgrade my XR LWP 1.5 ratio to add reliability and make future power upgrades possible too.

Wanted to see if anyone swapped out their XR on their Fountain or similar sized boat with an IMCO or Arneson. Which IMCO combination? Did you use a shortie on the IMCO or keep the XR lower? What were the results?

Thanks!

I changed my XR Uppers to IMCO SCX Uppers 2 years ago, about 100 hrs and no problems. First 50 hours with twin Merc 600SCI's on a Donzi 38ZR.Second fifty hours upgraded power to 850 a side and still no issues. XR uppers would last anywhere from 10 to 50 hours on original setup.

Thanks for the responses. Should I expect any loss of speed with the SCX uppers? Do I just reuse my XR lowers or is there a compelling reason to go to the SC lowers?

If you have single engine 29 I would consider SCX Upper and SCX lower. I think it's worth the couple mph for the peace of mind of not blowing up a drive in mid season and having to baby it.
