This is just my opinion, but if you feel you have enough power to warrant upgrading to an SCX, I would think you also need an HP ring.

One of the swaps I did was on a heavy cruiser with a B3 lower on it. The double blades of the B3 in combination with the 502 motor, kept eating uppers. The solution was to use a SCX upper with the B3 lower...problem solved.
Either the standard gimble or the HP gimble will work with the SCX helmet.

You are probably correct...but...
