Default Drive depth on a single ???

I have a Baja 26 Outlaw with a single 496. The motor is mildly modified now and will have the Raylar 600 kit installed by next year. I plan to put an IMCO SC lower unit on it and am undecided which drive depth to go with. I have it loosely measured at 7" and will take more precise measurements tonight. My question is what depth should I go for? Is 5" too conservative? I wish to get an efficient depth for good performance, but do not want to have "on plane" or blow out issues.

Ok I measured the X at 7.25” with the help of a friend. If anyone has an opinion on a 5.25” X dimension on a 26 Outlaw I would appreciate it. Thanks
