Default bravo oil change

so i drained my out drive oil and pumped about two quarts in threw the drain hole. The oil strarted to come out of the vent screw so i reinstalled the vent screw and drain screw. While trying to install the drain screw i lot a decent amount of oil so i put a few pumps in the vent screw for good measure. Them i topped of the remote resevoir. All is good, or so i think.

i thake the boat out today, leave the resevoir cap kinda loose so if there is any air it can blead out of the resevoir. Well it spit drive oil all over the place. So now i am sure i am low on oil.

Should i just add some more oil to the resevoir and call it good. Or should i pull the boat out and drain the new oil and put more new oil in it.

When pumping oil into a bravo with a resevior should i leave the vent screw in and pump untill oil goes into the resevior? Or was i right the first time and the final few pumps i threw into the vent screw messed every thing up?

thanks for the help, dont want to blow my brand new upper.

Here is what I do with good results:

Remove cap from reservoir
Remove drain plug, vent plug
When drained, fill from drain plug until lube comes out of vent
Reinstall vent plug
Continue pumping until lube appears in reservoir (about 1/2 way up)
Install drain plug
Top of reservoir, reinstall cap

There is no need to leave the cap loose as it has a vent in it.

ok thanks, your way sounds a lot better than what i did.

i thought the cap only let air in, not out. Might be wrong on that tho. I left it loose so any thrapped air could get out. But that didnt work very well for me.

thanks for your help.
