alpha ss drive
hey guys, I recently bought a xlt 185 powerplay, turns out it has a alpha ss drive. Is this drive worth keeping or should i sell it? I do not know a lot about it other than it raises the X of the boat. The boat also has a crank mounted water pump and the alpha ss water pump is used as a drive shower? supposedly the pickups in the ss were smaller and this was a necessary upgrade. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Keep it - I run one on my 17 1/2 foot boat and it makes a huge difference in handling and top speed, etc... over a standard alpha drive. you could probably get 2000 - 2500 for it and buy a replacement aftermarket alpha drive if you really needed the cash, but I bet you would be sorry...
I'm back to running a standard alpha for a while - maybe longer if the ss I just torched isn't easily repaired...
either way, have fun with it and take care of it... regular maintenence, good lube, etc.. imho Cheers! Tim
