Side to side slop in a bravo 1
My buddy just picked a baja hammer really cheap. It has some issues the main problem is that the top of the gimbal ring is loose on that ( i was told the exact name) arm for the steering.... It looks as though the aluminum of the gimbal ring has been eaten away. what is the best fix? and he would be in the market for a used good ring. the only werid thing is that i looked at mine and our transom assys dont look the same mine is of 1993 build and his boat is a 1997. oh well. just need to fix it because it is unsafe

he can send the ring to http://www.jrmarine.com/products/gimbal_repair.htm and have it repaired fairly cheap. Can also get the kit from them so you can get the ring off without pulling the engine.
I just did this job last year and got a new ring and helmet on ebay for 500.
