Yamaha IO
Does anyone have any specs on the yamaha IO? I have a Chaparrall that came with a Yamaha 350 small block and drive. I was wondering did they use someone elses drives and label them Yamaha? Is there any interchangeabilty between other mfgs?

I think this was their own drive and had unique features like electric shift. Hopefully someone in the know chimes in.

Not sure if what you have is the same as what I have, Yamaha Hydradrives.
They are their own drive and they just stopped making them this year from I think 1994. Didn't change them much, so parts are pretty interchangeable.
There are tons of them in the UK and parts seem pretty freely available.
Oil changes are very important, not too unlike a Bravo, if you are running lots of torque. Use the Mercury oil or any GL5 oil without Boron.
They have a hydraulic clutch and shift very smoothly. They come in single or double prop models and should get 1000 hours before a teardown. If you do it on time, it is just bearings, otherwise can be very expensive.
They also like drive showers or cooling modifications.
