Default #7 drives?

Hi.
I have found a pair of #7 drives with 1:1 ratio for diesels but i can't find any info about these drives, are they the same as #6? is there parts for them?

Regards

Jocke

I'd suggest you search around here, it's been up before.

Don't know much about them, but they are not like the #6's. You might be able to bolt on a #6 lower, but I'm not sure. The lower is very different. They where not in production for long, not a big hit. If you need #6's, I'd suggest you look for #6's.

#7's were designed for use with diesels, hence the high ratios. They share some parts with the #6's, but the ratios were all different, and I think the lower is different entirely.

Thanks, is it possible to find spareparts for them? i'm thinking of using them with diesels but if it is impossible to find parts i will have to go with something else.
What are they worth with everything including props and steering?

It seems that there aint to many parts avilable for them.
The lower gear seems much bigger than both dry and wet sump 6.

Don't have the answer to your question, but got a question.

Have you already purchased the drives? You should look for something else. Depending on your max rpm, you might not need a high ratio. I remember reading some info about prop speed being the key to good diesel performance. You could look for a set of ASD #8's. Stronger and lighter than a #6, and have shown to work great with not only gas, but also diesels. What kind of boat are they going on, and what is your budget for drives?

No i have not bought them yet, if i want i could trade them for my chris craft stinger 312.
Yes i would rather have arnesons but the boat (scarab meteor 5000) has a notched transom and do not know if that would work, i had ASD 8 with 16" dropboxes on my last boat a chris cat and they're great.
ASD8 without dropbox 1:1 ratio would be the best choise and they're less expensive than most speedmasters.

According to Rik from Arneson, notches are not necessarily an issue. Many notched boats run ASD's. As an example in this thread kjm5125's Formula runs ASD#7M's http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/d...hat-drive.html
Fountains, Outerlimits ect. ect. ect. It should not be a problem.
