Default Trim cylinder rebuild question.

Hey all,

I am rebuilding the tilt/trim cylinders on my alpha one(gen 1) outdrives. My question is, what are the little brown felt like material pads for? I did not find them anywhere when I disassembled the cylinders, and they are not mentioned anywhere in the overhaul kit instructions. Other then that it seems to be a much easier task then I was planning on....For once!!!

Thanks in advance guys.

Well I will .
It has been awhile that I used a complete overhaul kit . Most of time we just use the seal kit
#25-87400A2 . That kit has a little cardboard (DISC) , I think it is a moisture prevent doodad.

OK, I was really leaning towards that(moisture absorption), but just wanted to be sure there wwas not some sort of "improvement" they made!

Thanks.
