First thing to remember is to not let the reservoir go empty. Disconnect all the lines from the cylinders. With the reservoir full bump the switch up a few times until you see some fluid start to come out one of the up lines. Connect that line and bump the switch again until it comes out the other up line and then connect it. Now run the drive up about 1/4 of the way. Top off the reservoir and run it up another 1/4. Top it off again and run it up another 1/4.Top it off and run the rest of the way up and top off. Now bump the switch down until you see fluid start to come out the disconnected down lines. Connect them and continue to run it all the way down. Check the level and run it up and down several times and it will remove any remaining air itself as the fluid passes through the reservoir.

+1 on not letting the reservoir run dry. Then you start over.
One thing I do when I don't feel like making a mess is remove the ram from the drive, and position it fitting side up. Cycling it a few times in that position will get more air out than if the fittings are on the side or bottom.
