Unhappy Trs u-joints

Thanks to bob at marine kinetics and the guys at dart and afr I have a problem with holding my final drives together. It
Seems that the universal joint yoke - trans side - is far too delicate for the hp and torque my mouse motors are putting out.

Did anyone ever make a beefed up joint for trs/merctrans?

I don't mind breaking the yoke so much but each time it let's go I lose the gimbal housing

Konrads are the solution but not in budget right now

And yea I know the problem is my right hand!!

TRS uses a Spicer 1320 u-joint, Konrad is MUCH larger with a Spicer 1350. We've still got a few inventory reduction specials if interested.

You sure you don't have some other problem going on? I would think a MercTrans would hand grenade LONG before the yoke shaft. Never heard of yoke shaft problems on a TRS at only 500hp. How fast you spin'n then small blocks?

+1
I think you have other problems. Isn't the Merc Trans yoke different than the one Biggus posted? There are a lot of TRS's running 550-600 without yoke failures. I have been running 600HP for 4yrs now.

Can you post some pics?

Im running twin 545hp through bw trans with no issue....on either side....

Are u sure your alignment is correct? Seems like it could be very possible that your yoke failure is a byproduct of the gimbal failure....

Yep. The one he posted is for a Borg-Warner Trans. The one for the Merc Trans has a female splined end on it and is shorter.

With the bobtail mount - seems like it would have no choice but to self align
I am turning 54 to 5600
Merctran's have been updated and rebuilt

The fit of the bobtail seems tight is there vertical and horizontal adjustment in the gimbal bearings?
Thank you for your comments
