How deep do you want to get into this. You can buy all the parts indivually. What parts do you think you'll need? You can get the bearings and seals for the upper and lower swivel pins fairly cheap. Expensive parts will be the gimble ring and upper swivel pin. You really need to pin point exactly where the slop is. Also you need to know which gimble ring, upper swivel shaft, and steering arm combination you have.spline/spline or spline/square or square/square. Square/square is the latest design and best. If you have splines you will want to convert to the square/square design. If you have a square cut gimble ring you can have it repaired at JR marine or replace it with a new one for $875.

Here's where you can get the indivual parts:

If you have a square cut steering arm they usually don't need replacing. What you need to do is disconnect the steering arm from the cable and power steering. Then have someone hold the drive solid while you move the steering arm gently side to side by hand inside the boat to determine exactly where the slop is.
Search that part number #42385A 7. Lot of places come up . Weather they have it or not who knows.
