Default Alpha/ Bravo hybrid

I've been searching and searching. I remember reading here somewhere that you can make an Alpha/ Bravo outdrive hybrid. Can anybody please advise?

Thanks!!

I heard something bout a lower from an outboard that had to be modded to work. Never really found much on it.

Here's a small something, almost nothing:

Ok. I just thought I read something once. Maybe it was before my coffee kicked in!

Would a Bravo bolt to an Alpha gimble?

That may be what you are thinking of. You can modify a Gen 2 Alpha gimble to accept a Bravo helmet.

back in 2000 there was a guy that fab up a Speedmaster lower to a an Alpha one gen II upper. It was called the Performance Alpha Drive. The guy was an outdrive persay expert during that timeframe and worked with Merc and Merc worked persay with him for ideas, better rebuilds and so on. Anyways his Performance Alpha sold for $4995 at that time. His business was located in Wisconsin I believe close to Merc / Mercruiser in that area.

I seen it in person back in that timeframe but the whole outdrive was on a outdrive stand.

The list it had for marketing at that time was and the better features than a plain Alpha Gen II was.

Heavy duty gearing
1.5 or 1.32-1 gear ratios
Greater exhaust capacity and flow - thru outdrive exhaust apps -
Raw water cooling in the top cover
Low water pick up for higher x dimension installs
Better Hydrodynamic design
Will back fit all the back to 1972 Mercruiser outdrives - Alpha, MR, 1and so on.
