Default Max Machine Tower - Drive Spacer required???

Just pulled off a 2" spacer to try a higher x and seems the Max tower in my upper protrudes down at least a 1/4" which is not allowing the lower to fully install. A stock upper is flush. What am I missing??? Do I have to run at least a 1/2" spacer? Seems odd

Did you use the stock coupling between the upper and lower?

Heres the deal- the Max worx tower uses a locknut on the bottom with a oring on it that measures EXACTLY .250 thick which is exactly how thick the spacer/collar in a stock lower is (this piece is REMOVED from a stock lower to bolt it on). SO, to install a drive spacer you need to machine the top of it to fit the tower nut they added and shorten the aluminum center piece that everyone uses in a space then you need to add a stock collar/spacer to lower. To remove a spacer that must have been modified as I mentioned you will need to remove the oring and .250 spacer around the verticle shaft to allow drive to sit into it properly, Smitty

Thanks Smitty. I'm actually taking the spacer off so it sounds like there is a piece I can remove from the stock lower. I did notice they each had an outer o-ring. So the one on the lower just pulls or screws off?
