What is the answer?
I'm just trying to get this right and have the right parts on hand. If you know, do I need to get a set of springs or what?

Oh I guess I miss this question sorry.

It is hard to say yes all your parts will work in a combo mix match parts - without knowing what you have exactly for putting the set up together properly.

So I am asking if you can give me all your part numbers and or pics of what exactly you have so I can answer all of this properly.

Also you need to use the correct parts and the correct placement of all parts and their positions to make all of work correctly.

first is do you have this ? All of it and the correct part numbers here ?

BUP, here is what I have.
F/W cover P/N 12875-C1 (older non-knurled)
Bravo HP Coupler (long snout)
New transom assy S/N OL 505534
2 ea. screw kits 10-97934A-1
I guess my question is "to use or not to use" the springs (double wound washers). I sure would like the install/alignment to go smoothly.
Thank you for your valuable time.

Reaper311, where do you go to get your engine pulled? I have a guy here by the Renaissance that has a 14' high rotating pedestal crane he hires out inexpensively, if you need let me know.

sorry guys been swamped.
BUP, no just looking at it and rotating the motor 90 deg. The splines in the coupler are pointed not flat like they should be. And get this no grease at all!! It is so far out of round I'm actually afraid of doing starting it with the alignment tool inserted. Soon as I get some help I am going to roll it over with the starter and look to see how bad it really is. If it's that far out of round is it possible there are other things that my be damaged or just the coupler. I raised one side of the engine ( the side with the missing nut originally) over an inch. Before the tool would even go in.

Glenamy, I appreciate the offer. I am going to pull it with a track hoe.
Love the RenFest.

Ok thanks for the update but I thought in post # 1 you already checked all of that out using the alignment tool and looking in already..

Next time just put grease (a nice somewhat thick even coat all the way around ) on the end of the alignment tool about 4 inches up to and then stab the tool all the way in - pull out the tool and check the grease spline pattern marks that is left on that portion - a very simple way to check teeth and off center alignments. I like Merc special 101 that works the best of checking the patterns.

G242 - which ever inner transom plate you have bought - (intend to use) - you have to use the spring washers for that app only inwhich calls for it as posted in the SB or DO NOT use the spring washers that is not calling for them per that newer style of the inner transom plate in the SB. - you have to make sure which inner transom plate you have exactly.

You can also check it by the part number as well inwhich I already posted the newer inner transom plate part number that DOES NOT use the spring washers. The SB is what you should follow plus the merc part diagrams I posted to match up what you have bought and intend to use.
