Default Bell Housing Washers

Outdrive experts, looking for some clarification on my 1988 Bravo One Outdrives (can't find he serial number). Just put everything back on the boat after fixing the hinge pins from the previous owner and I noticed a weird clearance between the bell housing and gimbal ring where the hinge pin is. When I removed the drives a few weeks ago, there was only the tan sticky back washer (41721) on the gimbal ring. When I reassembled, I replaced those with new. After assembly, I noticed the odd clearance. After further digging into diagrams, I found an additional steel washer (806241) listed on the bell housing diagram. This appears to be the same size as the gap between the bell housing and gimbal ring on each side but I am not certain. I ordered new sets of both style washers (tan and steel) so I can get it straight this weekend. Now I am questioning if these steel washers that I think are missing can even be used on my bellhousing because there is no machined groove? Any help is appreciated here. It appears to be 1/16" - 1/8" clearance on each side of the bellhousing to the gimbal ring. Once again, there was no washer there when I disassembled everything so that may be why the hinge pins were toast? Thanks in advance!

If your Bells have the machined counterbore for the washers you need them . If just a flat boss on the side of the bell you dont need them.
