Bottoms need WAAAAAAAY more power to be prominent & CLEAN, CLEAN being the key word. I've been in the same band playing everything from Beatles to Alice in Chains, with some AC/DC, Cinderella, & Def Leppard (thrown in for good measure) and I've always run a minimum of 2x the power through the bottoms as what going to the mids & uppers. When I ran bottoms, mid & uppers, I had 6000w on the bottoms, 3000w on mids, 2000w on the uppers. Playing rooms is different than playing outdoor venues, and again different from setting up car audio and again different from marine audio systems, but bottoms need more power in all cases. JMHO...

Before you buy anything new- have you verified that the speakers and amp are wired correctly? Out of phase speakers would sound "Thin."

Use the 1000 5v2 in 75 RMS x 4 channel Mode to power the back high 770's and low 770s
Buy a 800 8v2 and run it in 200 RMS x 4 channel mode to power the front high 770's and the low 880's

Thoughts on this configuration?

Another thought in the rear speakers is to not use the low location at all and use the 1000 5v2 in 200 RMS x 2 channel going to the 770's on top. (the only problem is I already purchased the 770s)
You own the 770's so use them as upper mids and tweets and keep them high. I feel there is enough airspace in the rear bench for those 10' and a pair of 880's so that is where I'd put them. The fact your subs are on the outside is good because that corner-loading will yield a bit more output. The 880's in the center will really shine and fill the space with a lot of rear stage sound. Your going to set the 880's at a higher crossover point than the 10's (but lower than your 770's) and I think it will fill in that thin sound your looking to fix.

The 8" subs and 880's in the rear bench of my 35 compliment each other really well and your a bit better being that you have 10" subs.

Just my .02

All,
I decided on using the 2 880's down low, on the sides, next to the subs. (In the stock location in the rear and he will enlarge the holes w/ 880s facing each other from side to side) The front 2 880's will be in the low stock location. The installer agreed to take back the extra pair of 770s. Wanted to get your opinion on the following:

Tuning the system.
What would you set the crossovers at for the following?
What other adjustments on either amp would you use?

4 880’s (low position in cockpit and on the sides by the bench), next to the subs. What crossover?
2 10” IB5 subs using What crossover?
4 770’s up high What crossover?

Running the 880v8 in 200 RMS x 4, 4 ohm for 880’s. I assume at 90% max on trim
Running 1000 5v2 75 RMS x 4, 4 ohm for 770’s and running the 2 subs off the sub channels.

Will check to make sure wiring is correct and in phase

Let me know your opinions! Thx!

My opinion is- nice looking ride!

If a speaker was out of phase you can hear it using your left/right balance. Start at full left channel and increase volume to medium level where you can start to hear the mid-base. Now move balance back to center without adjusting the volume. Other than the overall volume which had better sound quality, if in phase both channels will be fuller/richer and louder than single channel instead of just louder. Turn your subs off and it's easier to hear the difference.

I wouldnt expect out of the box jl stuff to be built wrong , it could happen and you phase be 180.out ,cause a definete midbass deficiency. It takes 2 people, but a easy way to make sure subs mid drivers ect are all on the same page is go right to the amp with a 1.5 v battery and power each speaker thru its wiring + to -
And watch cone movement subs too
You may have to baffle your side speakers.
If you can see the cones of your 8.8s moving that are in the bench when you run subs only, your comprimising what the 8.8s are going to do . But at least you know your bench is nice and tight. (Very very few are )
