30 Eliminator Daytona twin Raylars @103mph!
Just thought I would let a big cat out of the bag! Today at Havasu, a particular twin 496HO equipped 30 Daytona that was running honest 85 mph before two Raylar kits today made its way across the lake with 95 degree air temps at 103mph GPS with the 32P Bravo ones still on the rev limiter at 5150 RPM! Not to say the least the owner and Raylar are off the wall excited with the results. These motors just had our BCK103 kits and stock exhaust. If one does the math, the savings over HP525's is huge with the same boat performance and according to this months Powerboat magazine probably a big difference in insurance costs also.
I think I'll just go sit on my deck and smile!
Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

the boat will run 100mph with stock 496ho's! what am i missing? The same boat with 525's will run 115-120mph.If the boat only ran 85 before there must have been something wrong! Like 10 people on board or something!

They don't really have the prop situation dialed in on this boat yet. I know back in 2002 they had a 30 eliminator Daytona that ran 103 on stock 496HO's suppossedly , I don't know the test condtions, temperature, drive ratio, humidity etc. I have heard of these 30 foot Daytonas with HP525's running 107 -108 mph but not any doing 115-120mph onGPS or radar certified. I know Mr Bob Leach himself is involved in the "dialing in" of this particular boat so there must be some real interest and importance in our results. This test was done with two people aboard and about 100 gallons of gas an, customers gear and folded bimini, etc. I would like to hear from a 30 foot Daytona owner with stock 496HO's who is really seeing 103 mph in fresh smooth lake water. I am sure salt water, cool temps and a slight chop would have brought the boat up two to three mph. Time will obviously tell as this boat is checked out better in the prop and X height and weight area.
I really like it when we get questioned, it just makes us try harder. Sucess is its best reward!

wait till you put some cmi's on it! With those 496's breathing it should do alot better. Some of the 30's had a lower x dimension which caused a little slower speed but much better planning time. we have had 28' daytonas that run 105 out of the box with a high x and it takes a while to get on plane with 32p bravos. go to 30p bravos and the boat will run at 98 all day long and come out of the water like a ski boat. There are always tradeoffs.

What have you found the ideal "X" is on 28 TD with boxes. Mine are 1" below the bottom of the boat and seem to be holding it back. They came from the factory even, but dropped 1" when I installed imco boxes.
Thanks in advace for your input.
36 Bravos are fast props after you get on plane....

Re: 30 Eliminator Daytona twin Raylars @103mph!
This is just what I am talking about here. I am certainly not on this thread to critisize or question the Eliminator Daytonas, they are Awesome boats and have proved themselves as just such! The problem that has risen is that several people who bought the 30's with stock 496HO's have not been able to see the 100mph plus numbers. I think the lightened weight of the Kevlar hull specially built test boat, with the Merc ITS extensions that were on the boat and not available with the 496 package coupled with a expierenced raceboat driver and ideal conditions created the 103MPH number the boat hit in the test, which was an awesome result and was real. Our job was to get an average production 30' Eliminator up over 100MPH, and we did that! This is sometimes an industry problem, builders and engine and drive manufacturers get a little "outside the box" in buildups and rigging to achieve a fantastic result that is hard to recreate economicaly or repeatably in production of the shelf conditions.Yet the marketing people want to latch on to these results to obviously help sell boats and magazines to the high performance boating community. Let's face it tits the excitement and enthusiasm of a 100mph boat is what sells these boats! The other sometimes obvious condition is that most boat owners want their boat faster than it really is and their tests of top speed always seems to get a little "fudge" on the high side for bragging rights. This customer boat is still having the problem of being difficult to get up on plane quickly under heavy load and this is because when she comes up and starts to roll down the extra horsepower with the 32P Bravo 1's, the props start to blow out. She will still hit the top speed number and acceleration numbers on plane no problem. When we turn up the rev limiter past 5150 and lab the props I am pretty sure it will see another 3-4 mph. I am pretty sure that with a little refinement to prop setup and possible X-height adjustments that this planning problem will be solved and the stock production 30' and 33' Eliminator Daytonas will be honest 100mph + boats with Raylar HO525's (496HO's with 103 kits), normal loads, average conditions and good recreational drivers. If we
deliver this, mission accomplished!!
