Default 24 Daytona with twins, project "Cobra"

I have started a project with a restoration of a 24 Daytona I bought. Here are some "before" pics.

Getting fresh power, Mercury alien cowls, all new interior that will be much different with bolsters in the back seat, headrests and grap handles, tall buckets up front and an all new paint scheme similar to a Ford GT red with white stripe. The Ford Cobra logo also.

The boat is in primer now. Interior will done in a few weeks. Tall front buckets that are going in the boat. I removed the four front cuddy windows and the side vents in back. They dated the boat. Fiberglass work and they disappear!

I was so close to buying this boat two years ago. Definately needs some graphic and interior work but the motors should be solid. I think i still have all the paperwork on what he spent on the motors at my house. I figured once the economy picked back up, or got a little more stable it would try to get it. Cant wait to see what you do with it!

One engine was blown, overheated and stuck a piston and a rod let go. Real mess. Here is the inspiration for the paint.

Guess it had a rough summer! But we all know that speed kills, motors and drives especially. That design should look great on the hull, especially in the water. How was his transom repair? That was the big iffy for me. From all the pics he sent it looked good, but being so far away it was a little scary.

It was the bottom at the transom that had problems. That is common on older Eliminators. The glass repair work was very nice. The rigging is first class. Sould have the boat done in a few weeks. I will post more pics.

Fresh 260's with digital ECU's. I like the snap of the 2.5's. We boat on smaller lakes and there is nothing better than going zero to 100 very quickly. Small 28 pitch props and buzz the engines.

Brad, you should look into speedmaster drives. I had one on my last allison. Direct drive, turning a 10" prop on a S3000 motor with 280 lbs of compression. I want to talk about making some noise coming out of the hole, plus there is nothing more stable on high speed passes. Just sucks bc no reverse!
