My new 27 - need advice

Just got a new to me 2004 27 Daytona. It has a 496 in it now, and I'm considering upgrading to a taller deck motor. Im attaching a link to pics of the exact same boat (not mine) that shows how tight the 496 is to the top of the hatch. I know I can put a scoop on, but I'm more concerned about the height of the "shoulders" of the engine, ie the headers and intake manifold. I see in the link that the sunpad seems to removable. Question : has anyone removed the entire pad to accommodate the "width" of a taller engine? Any pics? Thanks. (very excited, yes!)

Shouldn't be an issue, Ive never run anything but tall-deck, there is only 4/10 inch and it is at an angle as well, it's not straight up.

The exhaust holes will not match up. Standard deck to tall deck.

Maybe so, but a grinder and gelcoat will fix that real fast.

No issue, the 496's are tall deck motors.
