I think mine broke second or third time I filled up. I just got use to hanging onto cap when I try to take off. I just have to make sure when someone helps me to tell them to hang on to cap.

Turbojack.............I repaired my gas caps by getting a 50lb test 6 inch stainless fishing leader with a clip on one end and a swivel on the other.......It's a standard fishing leader at Pro Bass Shop....costs about $1.49.......I also purchased two small ring clips used for attaching lures to the fishing line.........Pull off the ball chain from inside the gas inlet leaving the ball chain clip still attached inside....clip the end of the leader through the clip...Next....On the cap side just place the small ring clip onto the swivel and use the existing screw on the cap.........done deal....it works just fine...On the cap side I did use a longer screw with a aviation nut........I also drilled out the hole....This is probably over kill......Good Luck..........What kind of speed are you getting with your boat?

Great Idea to fix problem. Give me something else to do this winter.

As far as speeds still working on it. Best to date 104, that was in early spring. Best this summer was 95.7. Working on 3 problems, 1-not enought air to engine compartment, 1- related to #1, too high engine compartment heat, Got down from 125 to about 110 on a 95-98 day. 3- transom is lifting when low on fuel & causing front to settle down. I have ordered some AFR CNC heads & hoping to make another 150-225hp, hoping for another 10+ mph

Today was the first time on the water with this 2001 26 Daytona hp500 26 pitch prop......ran 77.4 on gps..........I kind of thought it would run 80mph..........The engine sounds like it's running out good............I did notice the exhaust pipes make a rattle sound at idle......Think I'm going to make a change as to exhaust ententsions.....It's the first time I drove a cat......Sure handles different than a deep-v....I was impressed with the way it took the waves but turning is alot different......Something I'll have to get used too......Lots of looks from other boaters.......I have to say I like the boat......Need to work on the speed if possible..........

Boat is a 2001, procharged 540BBC. The 77mph is close to what some other people have said that the boat will do. The lean or lack of lean just takes some time to get use to, after time you will know how to handlle it. Just watch what you are doing & take it easy until. Don't want to read about you in newspaper
