1980 27' Excalibur Speedster
27' Speedster Beam?

I've read a lot about the beam on a 27' Speedster...because I'm thinking about buying one.

I previously (just a month ago) sold my 22' Scarab Excel. This boat has about an 8' beam...so I'm wondering how the handling will be better or worse in the Speedster.

Here is what I have read...please correct me if I'm wrong.
The beam at the rear is 6'6" and widens towards the middle of the boat to about 7' wide. Is that correct?

This sounds skinny compared to ANY other speed boat I've read about (but I'm still a newbie for sure). Is that correct?

Characteristics of a beam this skinny...
Will it be more or less finicky than a 22' Scarab Excel? My 1st impression is it will probably behave pretty similar...but ride better due to the extra length. Does that sound fair?

Guidance and advice is appreciated.

1995 Pantera 24SE - SOLD
Beam is the measurement at the boats widest point.
30 Activators are 7ft

I went from a 22 Scarab to a 27 Excalibur. Night and day. You'll love the 27.

Which one you looking at? JERSEYDEVIL here on OSO has my old one. Great boat.

Thanks for the reply jdub...glad to talk with another guy that had the same boat I did.

Yes - that's one of them (JerseyDevil's) that I have my eye on. Dang nice boat...but I'm looking at a couple more that aren't quite as "finished" as that boat is.

Save yourself time and money (in the long run) and get something more "finished". Been there done that...got the t-shirt to prove it
