Default wet sanding non-slip deck?

On my sunsation, there is two runners of anti-slip checkering in the fiberglass and gelcoat. Is it ok to wetsand this area along with the rest of the deck?

are you planning on trying to remove the non slip texture or do you just want to scuff it up to repaint?

I would not sand that area, just buff it. You will work yourself to death if you do.
