I was thinking the same think. I've seen many a loads drop and ruin the day. Just don't let anyone get under the load. I've been told a standard 2x6 is only good for about 200 pounds. You might want to have the numbers calculated before you hang too much more weight. You might want to check the load capability on the come alongs and wire rope as well. Its cheap insurance and someone on the board could probably give you a number.

Awesome project though. Keep posting pictures of the process.

The headers are 2x10 double and through bolted to the 12 foot 6x6
There are not free standing.
The structure is bolted to the 6x6s that border the property.

The comolons can handle 2000lbs each!
That top deck is not that really heavy
I was still in the top deck when i was cranking it up!
Then after my brother inlaw pulled the hull out,i slowly cranked it down.

Will post more pics soon!!!

Its definatly worth removing the deck for this project.
We tried to do repairs on stringers and no room to work.
Now with it all open,we can dance.
Will keep you guys posted!!!!

Your brother in law's neighbors must be as interested in this project as we are... for different reasons of course.

How can you prevent this from happening when removing the deck and not having a mold to drop the boat into to preserve its shape?? Pics would be great.
Thanks!

Interesting project.. Forgive any oversight & already covered topics in other threads but what are the plans ?? Getting rid of the open & going closed deck , or leaving it open ?? I talked to somebody several years ago in your area (I think)
that had a 28 open & I think it was in regards to doing some trading on a boat I or my father had , not real sure as there have been a few to many projects between Here & there.. may have even been your bro inlaw..

I don't get in this section too much as I spend the vast majority of my waking hours with a squeegee or sandpaper in one hand & a Sata Jet in the other , so sometimes I have had all I want by the time I am searching OSO & thats why Glassdave is my hero.. lol..

Anyways no matter which direction its going its a cool project & I will be sure to keep my eyes on it & wish you guys the best !!
