Removing water spots?

Last year I did a complete wet sand of my Donzi and brought the gel back to new. I used several coats of Zaino polish to protect it since I had good luck with that stuff for my cars. The shine is still good but I do have some hard to remove water spots. The boat sits on an uncovered lift during the summer so I'm not able to wipe it down every time it rains.

Anyone know a good way to get rid of the water spots that isn't too abrasive?

Are there any other marine specific polishes that can prevent them from coming back? I heard wax isn't good for the gelcoat but I'll go back to it if the protection is better.

Thanks!
