Lower Unit Paint

Hello, Could use some solid information. I have a pair of TRS drives that look like they have been through hell, just by apperance. I would like to strip them down and paint them. Any suggestion on the best way to strip the paint off of them with out taking the units apart? Can I use Aircraft Paint stripper? And what type of paint should be re applied?

I used 80 grit and a ton of effort. In hindsight, I probably should've taken my drive outside and used a blaster (bead / shell ) on it. I wouldn't use sand as it will hurt the alloy.

I'm not up on chemical strippers but I never really like them anyway. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment!

Paint? 2-Pac enamel. Bake it on if you can. Hard if you're not pulling the gears etc but not impossible, just find a body shop with a bake room and ask for a bit of space for a weekend?

I'm using that POR15 supposedly bulletproof stuff. It is hard as hell and unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't come off anything I've found yet. search for 'powdercoating drive' there's some good discussions about drive coats / paints / finishes from some very smart people (Except for me!)
