Fender mark on gel coat

While pulling out of a slip this weekend I must have rubbed against the side of the slip and now have this plastic / rubber mark on the side. I can pick at it with my finger nail and some of it comes off, but the mark is 2" by 8" long. Are there any suggestions to get this off?

39 MTI "Wildcat",
Rubbing compound or lacquer thinner. Lacquer thinner is the easiest. I would use a cleaner wax after your are done.

Lacquer thinner worked perfect, put a little on a rag and wiped right off. Thanks for the info!
