32 Spectra Deck Mods PLEASE HELP

Hi guys,
I am John and normally don't post much in this section however I thought it only made sense to do so considering what I am up against. I have a 32 Spectra I purchased a while back with hopes of rebuilding the engines and then moving on the exterior then interior. I have succeeded with the engine upgrades to very nicely built 496's that will hopefully make a noticable difference in this boats all around performance and fun.

Currently I am lost as to what I would like to do to the deck of this boat. I honestly don't really like the appearance from the intrument panel forward including the side windows. The right paint scheme may do wonders however I would still like to pursue on cutting into the molded windscreen area and pull it back toward the cockpit. Then glassing in what ever remains of the windows and attempt to lengthen to deck to match back up to the lower molded windscreen. I realize this would reduce headroom in the seating (cuddy) area but that isn't a real concern. (something similar to that of a cig. flat deck appearance).

Other option would be to completely rebuild and glass in a new deck from the intrument panel area forward and raising it for appropriate head room and to just give it an overall truditional offshore look.

Outside the new paint scheme and possible graphics are any of my ideas remotely possible or am I laying awake at night thinking about this just wasting my time. The boat is very solid and is relatively a light layup with very few hours and I bought it right so I would really like to keep what I have here and make it work. It also handles very well.

The boat shown here is not mine however is pictured on a thread in the classics section. I thought the shot here gives a much better angle than the one I had so I posted another boat of the same year.

Thanks in advance for your help in making this ongoing project a possible one.

PS Some how I really need to get a longer deck appearance from this.

yes filling all the windows and the right color/graphics can do wonders for stretching out the boat. Good looking boat though none the less. yes its the deck rise for the day cruiser layout that really shortens up that boat. Do you have a straight on side shot of your boat?

thanks glassdave for your interest and help in pursuing my goals. if you can take the time to check out my post on classic boats please do. i finally realize i haven't been out in left field with my thoughts. you have to see what someone did to theirs. the boat almost looks of that of something futureistic. this is exactly one of the ideas i have been continplating. the only thing i think might help or at least my preference would be to add a powder coated or stainless bow rail up the middle. just a single one. this might help raise the looks of the relatively low deck. the other might be a sleek plexy / lexon windshield. i am very happy to see these pics. be sure and let me know your thoughts. you will also see several other photos on classics also.

thanks again for your help here.

john
