Default which filler should i use?

Have decided to paint the bottom of my boat,whilst sanding obviously there are some chips and scratches to be filled,what do i use?polyester filler or epoxy filler? and what is the difference between them,many thanks in advance.

3M's Vinlyester Premium Marine filler. Great stuff and is good for under water repairs. Applys easy and sands well.

boatfix.com has it in pints. (part # mmm46004)

Thanks glassdave,what do you reccomend for finish coat below the waterline,boat is kept in fresh water only,3 months during summer,i have full spraying facilites,thanks again.

There really are no paints that will survive under water for extended periods. Awlgrip is the best you can use and even thats not recomended below waterline.

Honestly you might be better off trying to restore the gel thats on the bottom of the boat now.

havnt used P77 but i will pretty soon here. That 3M's vinylester is some sweet sanding stuff. You need to give it a try before ya knock it. I do like AdTechs Ultrafair to, thats some really nice stuff.
