Default What kind of paint to use on my boat?

I was wondering what the best type of paint to use for my boat? It never stays in the water more than 2 days(camping for the weekend) I am painting it solid white and I didn't know if a single stage paint would look good or not? Or what about imron?(do they even make that stuff anymore?) or base coat clearcoat? I've painted a few things with single stage paintand I thought it looked good and had enough shine to it but I want yalls opinions. Thanks

I painted my Chris last year with PPG's concept. It is a single stage. It looked excellent, held up well, and was easy to spray. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'll second the PPG Concept. Tough with a good shine.

yep . . . . Concept all around

Its great for solid colors. What kind of spray equipment do you have? It makes a difference in determining how much to get. Terribly inefficient guns like a GTI will spray great but you'll go through five or six quarts if your not careful. You should still be able to get that done with a gallon if you play your cards right. Seal it in white and by nature Concept covers pretty good anyway. If you have not selected a white yet let me suggest the color number 91050. It is my signature white and looks great with any colors. You have to be very careful when picking a shade of white a this one is a very clean color and not overly bright. Biggest mistake i see all the time is most ask there paint supplier for the brightest white the have, this is a huge mistake and looks awful.

the sealer goes on first, you should be able to get that done with a gallon but its gonna be close. It depends on what kind of spray equipment you use. This is the bare minimum

$180 a gallon for that color
$45 for a gallon of DT reducer
$100 for a qt of DCX61 catylist for Concept
$50 a qt for DP-48-LF (white epoxy sealer) you will need to thin this about 20% to make it spray nice.
$30 a pt for DP-402- LF (epoxy catylist)

Hey Dave can you send me a detailed message of every step on how to spray my boat. My buddy paints cars for a living but I think this will be his first boat. He does great work but I want to make sure we have All our ducks in a row before he just starts pai ting it. I'd like to show him the "procedure" you take when using this products. Thanks you can send it in a pm or if you'd like to post for other guys who might be in the same boat I'm in and would like to know. Thanks

oh sure . . . I tell you . . . you tell someone else . . . . next thing i know i'm out of a job

lol, actually heres a quick run down of the process. Keep it simple and just think ahead. only difference for you is drop the DBC basecoat and DCU-2021 for the DCC Concept.
