Default installing new stringers ???

Hello,
I'm installing new wood stringers, what type of bedding material is needed to keep the stringer off the floor and how much of a gap should I have. Any installation details would be very helpful. Thanks Jeff

Default stringers

I am not a pro by any means, but what I usually do is cut the stringers to size then glass prior to install. I shim to about 1/2" clearance and then glass a few spots let dry pull shims and then finish it off. Works well for me.

Default stringer

The gap he is referring to is the is the gap between the stringer and the hull. The idea is that if you leave a small gap between the two you reduce the chance of stress cracks on the outer hull. I have done it both ways with with no noticeable difference
