Epoxies put off a amine blush that inhibit the cure of esters. If you use epoxy you will need a barrier coat like one of Duratechs primers and frankly for non structural issues epoxy isnt worth the effort and cost most times. As FF said your best to stick to one system or the other.

You can put a barier cote between them to allow you to use Gell but like has been said above you really need to do it carefully. It does not sound like your repairs really need to be done with Epoxy. Just don't use that polyester that you would get at home depot or the alike.
