Curious to here what others have used.... I purchased this stuff to give it a try but I am not to keen on it. It is very difficult to clean up..

So, if i use a spray paint product... as I listed below, for the valleys were the paint is left how do I prep to put a layer of epoxy fairing compound...? Do I still roughly sand it to make it rough and then apply???

I have used the 3-M Dry guide coat before and it worked ok,I use tool makers layout dye, cut 4:1 with acetone and sprayed on,Yes you need to clean up what is left in the hollows,Why ever take a chance?

The surface should be clean and dry, I always clean with the shop magic universal solvent Acetone and wipe the 3-M one direction or pat on.It is a good product been around for a while.

i use any old toner we have laying around the shop. Just reduce it down and shoot

spray paint....whatever is on sale....wipe what is left on off with thinner....easy and cheap

I have always just used Krylon in a contrasting color.

Am I an Idiot, I was trying to use the dry coat while I was still cutting down some roughed up area with 40 grit??

You can use anything for a guide coat with heavy paper,But

Using the fine paper we sand to 2000 and better, you need a guide coat that will not clog that paper, we also sand dry with silicon carbide paper.
