Default Blueprinting the bottom?

What necessitates a deep Vee's hull bottom to be blue printed? ..........I hear this alot, but vaquely understand. I have a bare hull 27" magnum sport right now in the process of transom replacement and new fuel tank changes among other things. I have a 7' straight edge level, would placing this on the edge of the strakes (inner or outer) make it obvious for blue printing if it's not level?...........I think "hook" mean concave depression....and "rocker" convex, must either one of these be eliminated to arrive at a "blueprinted" bottom?

Hook and Rocker each have a purpose, whether that purpose meets your need is another story. Hooks can develope if the boat is stored improperly on a rack or trailer too.
Basically in blueprinting your making sure the bottom is flat and the strakes are the same size, shape, location etc.

A hook will push the bow down, rocker will help carry the bow

LOL hooks range from slight to a monster "Hogs Back" as the old guys called it ,the boat should have a set amount of what we call constant running surface where the bottom and strakes are straight for a portion of the length this could be up to 33% then converge to the bow ,phragle is right ,consistency is the key here the strakes get trued up and sharpened same with the Keel and bottom transom junction. with the boat apart after the transom repair turn it over and take pictures with straight edges on the strakes and we will guide you through the process

The other day I got up close to a simular boat as mine just to take a look at the hull and try to compare the difference I felt around the outter strakes. The differences were pretty stark, on mine, the edges were blunt but straight as if feeling a piece of plastic corner molding. The other boat (27 mag starfire set up for racing) I felt as if I could cut my finger along the edge of the strakes, that's how sharp they were. Looking foward to flipping the boat after the transom is in and see what I got down under.
