I was told by the painter Gaudardo in Miami to not use pearls for that reason. All base coat clear coat. There are some nice colors that can be used. If your guy can assure you he can blend it than give it a shot. I had a pearl white car that had some light damage on a door panel (two deep dings that cracked the paint). He had to paint the whole side of the car. Could not blend it he told me.
I personally would ask for some examples of his touch up first. Cars get stone chips that are small. We can get much larger damage. Blending some colors is a bit of an art form.

The first Cheetahcats were White Awlgrip I used for base with Imron clear mixed with Pearl top coat we shot out of a 2.5 gallon pot with agitator.
