its certainly possible but it is a technique that takes quite a bit of experience to perfect. Hit youtube i'm sure there are some kind of tutorials on there so where. I have seen it done to some very nice results. Materials choice has a lot to do with it to.

I did my whole 24 Sea Ray with that method using Pettit Topside paint. The white hull turned out great, but the dark blue stripe only turned out good. I did the stripe in the sun on a hot day and should have thinned it down a bit. The thixotropic properties are pretty good.
