Step Removal
The step on this boat was a piece that was glued on to the original bottom of the boat. My question is can anyone give me an estimate on how much it would cost to have the step taken off and refinish the bottom in that area? The step has been on there for many years and I am thinking about putting an offer in on this boat but want to get cost lined out first. Thanks http://www.performanceboatbrokerage....sp?boat_id=424

Is it just me or does that step and approach angle look kinda funky. Like it was an afterthought or something, I believe the step and trailing surface should be linear, these look to be off a few degrees.

GlassDave your right it is off, that step was glued on by Bobby Moore many years ago and I always thought that the flow of the bottom was off. Brett down there at PBB says you can see the lines on each side of the step.As far as taking a ride people have told me that the step makes a little difference but thats not what Apache vee bottoms were about so if I was to buy it I would like it back in its original form but thats just me.(opinions may vary)

No V surface line of the bottom is linear .. all should have rocker be it step or no step. Apaches have a lot of it and according to Richie Sutphen himself personally stating to me their brand has a lot of it....

I dont think that is accurate, i thought there was a ratio like the last third of the running surface is essentially linear unless hook or rocker is needed to tune out some ride flaw. I could be wrong but hopefully Steve or someone could shed some light, could hardly doubt Richie S though
